Hair health

Red LED and laser light for thinning hair, built into a cap you wear ten minutes a day. Hands-free, at home.

Why red light for hair

Thicker, fuller hair. Starting at the follicle.

Supports hair density

Red light energises the cells in the follicle, encouraging more follicles to spend longer in the active growth phase.

Improves scalp circulation

Better blood flow delivers more oxygen and nutrients to the scalp, the supply line every growing hair depends on.

Thicker strands

Follicles with more energy produce stronger, thicker hair shafts, so existing hair looks and feels fuller over time.

The science

How light works on hair.

Red light therapy (photobiomodulation) uses specific wavelengths of light to influence biological activity. At the scalp, light is absorbed by light-sensitive molecules in follicle cells, triggering the responses that lift energy, improve circulation and extend the growth phase.

Light reaches the scalp

Red LEDs and lasers line the inside of the cap, sitting a few millimetres from the scalp. Put it on, press the button, and the whole crown is treated for ten minutes.

Follicle cells respond

Illustration: red light entering the scalp and reaching hair follicles, with a zoom into a single follicle cell and its mitochondria

Light-sensitive molecules in follicle cells absorb the light. This boosts mitochondrial activity and improves blood flow, delivering more oxygen and nutrients to the root.

3

Energy for growth

ATP is the fuel follicle cells run on. With more of it, follicles stay in the active growth phase longer and produce a stronger, thicker hair shaft.

Hair grows slowly, so allow twelve to sixteen weeks of daily sessions before judging results. Less shedding usually comes first, then visibly fuller coverage.

LED + laser

Two light sources. One floods the scalp, the other focuses on the follicle.

The Hair Growth Hat combines 650 nm red LEDs with 650 nm laser diodes. Both sit in the red band that follicle cells absorb best; the difference is how the light is delivered. Together they give even coverage across the crown and concentrated energy at each follicle.

Illustrative, not to scale. Left: the wide, even cone of an LED. Right: the narrow, focused beam of a laser diode. Both are 650 nm red light reaching the follicle.

Red LEDs · 650 nm

LEDs emit a wide, soft cone of light. Spread across the cap they bathe the whole scalp evenly, so no patch between the lasers goes untreated.

Laser diodes · 650 nm

Lasers emit a narrow, coherent beam. That focus delivers a higher dose of the same wavelength straight down into the follicle, where the growth cells sit.

Wavelength is one part of treatment. Coverage, dose and consistency also matter. For hair, daily use wins: ten minutes every day for at least twelve weeks.

Hair health FAQs

Common questions

Hair grows slowly. Most people notice less shedding first, within the first month or two, and visibly fuller coverage after twelve to sixteen weeks of daily ten-minute sessions.

Yes. Red light acts on the follicle regardless of sex. It suits thinning across the crown and hairline in both men and women; it will not regrow hair where follicles are no longer present.

Both emit 650 nm red light. LEDs spread a wide, even cone over the whole scalp; lasers deliver a narrow, concentrated beam into each follicle. The hat uses both so coverage and dose are handled at once.

Yes. Red light therapy is commonly used alongside topical and oral hair treatments and does not interact with them. Apply topicals after your session, on a dry scalp.
